  i've had it a couple of times in the hospital.

  it's amazing stuff, one second you're awake, the next second you're asleep.

  they turn it off, and you immediately wake up.

  WT elders school: The elders in our circuit appear to be "trained" quite well

  in part of the video mentioned above showing the "goofus" elder trying to handle the situation with the crying sister:.

  the "goofus" elder went into the kingdom hall library alone with the sister when she left the auditorium.. you could hear literal, audible, gasps from the 100 or so elders watching the video.. a few moments later, as the sister was crying, "goofus" put out his hand and touched the sister's hand.. again, literal, loud, audible gasps from the audience.. they darkened the room while the video was playing so i couldn't see him, but i have to imagine the co was quite pleased that the audience grasped the "mistakes" that elder goofus was making.. .

  This reminds me of the one I attended a few years ago not that long after the latest Flock book leaked online. The chairman started off praising the book and then paused briefly for brevity. Then he said in more words or less, "Do you know someone posted this book on the internet?" Dang near 80% of the people in attendance gasped aloud. Their response shocked me so I started looking around to see facial expressions and there was the absolute look of horror and astonishment that someone would leak the precious Flock book online. It was hilarious and very telling, letting me know just how ignorant many JWs are, especially older JWs of what someone with internet access is capable of. In hindsight I wish I could have videotaped the whole thing from the back of the auditorium.

  WT Elders school: Avoid black and white thinking - now look at this zebra

  continuing on with my haphazard review of the recent one-day elders school..... in one of the introductory talks, the co was making the point that we can't view things merely from a black and white perspective.

  many issues have "shades of gray" and we need to use discernment in such situations.. and i'm thinking "finally!

  maybe he will continue on to make an actual, reasonable point!".

  David probably gets a pass in the WT's eyes because the Israelites were so hell-bent on having a king just like the other surrounding nations. So Jehovah' let them have a king, but in addition to the king they got all of the corruption that comes along with such an institution. David was essentially above the law because in Jehovah's eyes, that's what the Israelites wanted. (I know, I know). On the other hand, history is written by the victors, and you don't get much more victorious than King David. He was like the Aryan Brotherhood on steroids, when you kill as much as he did it went without saying what he says, goes. Somebody's husband got murked? And David is sleeping with her? I don't know what you're talking about. By the way what happened to Michael down the hillside, heard he was badmouthing the King then he kinds just disappeared.

  Regardless of all of that, where's Jesus Christ within all these policies and procedures? Why don't they just eliminate the Gospels entirely with the sole exception of Matt 24:25? Might as well start enforcing beard and locks growth. Candidates for baptism prior to water immersion will have an Awl piercing to REALLY sympolize who their masters are.

  I feel its just a matter of time before the official policy changed from shunning to stoning.

  Oh without a doubt, the mentality is already there. Heck there are older articles where it specifically states the only thing preventing them from stoning family members is Caeser's law. They'd absolutely LOVE to murder each and every poster on this message board. I get the feeling they'd love to have the ability to enter a hospital after someone has recieved a blood transfusion and then put a pillow over the person's face like the Godfather II. Crazy!!!!!!!!

  LOL!!!!!! So their solution to avoid black and white thinking is to err on the side of what? I don't even know how to word that. Err on the side of divine caution as depicted by the Hebrew side of the Scriptures. You know of all the verses to illustrate the need to avoid black and white thinking, a man getting stoned for collecting stickes was probably the worst example to use if you're an easy going kinda guy. Especially if as others pointed out you're the type of person that recalls to mind Jesus' words on that one sheep being down in the pit.

  I can't recall who said it a million times while I was lurking, maybe Jonathan Dough or Perry? Both of them were some hardlined individuals yet one of them, perhaps even both, stated numerous times that Jehovah's Witnesses are NOT Christians. While I agreed with them back then to some degree and with some reservation, it took this thread to REALLY put things in perspective. If there was any question as to what direction the leadership of this organization wants to go.........................

  Why so many "schools" now?

  so i'm sitting at meeting yesterday (uck) and got board during the wt and noticed the article on pg 13 about all the different schools offered...it seems like theres a bunch now.

  is this new or was i just not paying attention?

  any theories?.

  Those schools have as much value as a television without sound has to a blind man. I get the feeling those schools exist simply to say they have schools. The WT and subsequently Jehovahs Witnesses really lack anything worth being proud of thats comparable to nonJW institutions. Additionally the cat is out the bag in that nonJWs know JWs are taught to view college the same way they view Christmas. Its not a good a good look to say you've got a GED, and you attend the Theocratic Ministry What? every week. Other major denominations have legitimate schools worth speaking about. The fact that it didnt go unnoticed by JWs was probably a sore point with the GB. They had to institute something no matter how shitty just so they could say, "We've got schools too."
